Who Speclialist Work With The Specialist Company will be required to work with the Authority and other Suppliers to ensure coherent delivery of the services. The Specialist Company must have the necessary office facilities to support their own off-site working. It is anticipated that the Specialist Company will agree with the Authority to spend varying degrees of time located at the Authority’s site for face-to-face meetings and to carry out work of a security sensitive nature. What Specialists Work On Maintenance, patching, security and support of the AHE Secure Linux Operating System, in both physical and virtual environments, and its integration with external systems. Design and implementation of new Linux hosted functionality as required by applications which are hosted on the AHE Secure Linux OS. Design, maintenance and enhancement of the AHE DevOps capability using the deployed Automation and Orchestration tools to support the IAS Agile and System Operations Teams. Researching and providing Proof Of Concepts for new Linux technologies which provide business benefit to IAS. Providing technical support and advice to both internal IAS teams and external PaaS clients. Where the Work Takes Place The place of delivery of the contract shall be at such location as agreed between the Specialist Company and the Authority. Early Market Engagement N/A Working Arrangements The Specialist company shall use its own initiative as to the manner in which services are to be delivered; for the avoidance of doubt, the Specialist Company shall not be supervised, directed or controlled regarding how the services are delivered. The Specialist Company shall use its own equipment where security requirements permit. The Specialist Company is expected to provide the services on such hours/days as required to meet any deadlines, as agreed between the Specialist Company and the Authority. The Specialist Company shall provide the necessary resources to support the Services which shall include one or more specialists. Work Location The place of delivery of the contract shall be at such location as agreed between the Specialist Company and the Authority. Security Clearance Security Clearance (SC) will be required for the duration of the role. Incumbents are to follow both the letter and spirit of Army Headquarters security regulations. Proven recent experience of Operating System provisioning using Kickstart and automation scripts. Proven recent experience of Automated OS patching and system maintenance. Strong shell script programming experience including the ability to debug, enhance and assist with the development of complex shell script based software installation and customisation frameworks. Proven recent experience of integrating Linux based software with Identity Management technologies, including Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP. Practical knowledge of Linux OS networking and network security protocols and encryption technologies, for example SSL, PGP and IPSEC. Proven recent experience of DevOps automation and orchestration technologies within the Linux environment. Requires experience in Ansible, vRealize Automation, Orchestrator and the authoring of Ansible Playbooks, Blueprints and Workflows. Proven recent experience of Linux clustering technologies including Red Hat Resilient Storage (GFS2) and Oracle Clustered File System (OCFS). Oracle infrastructure software integration experience including Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Fusion Middleware. Proven recent experience of operating in High Availability production environments and a good understanding of the underlying technologies at the Infrastructure Software, OS and Virtualisation layers. Oracle Thin Client (SunRay) installation and administration experience. Good knowledge of VMware virtualisation technologies and how they interact with the Linux OS. Broad knowledge of external IT developments and emerging best practice, including strategy, architecture and planning. Good technical team skills and the self-motivation required to meet the demands of tight timelines and rapidly evolving priorities. Good technical authoring skills and experience of defining and documenting technical procedures. Excellent communication and co-ordination skills Nice to Haves Passed one or more recognised and relevant vendor certifications, such as RHCE, RH High Availability or RHCSS. Knowledge of Linux Forensics, with relevant experience or certification. Experience of working within the Defence sector and familiar with MoD policies, standards, guidelines and best practices.
