Please note this is not the start of a procurement process. A separate contract notice will be published to cover this requirement. The primary purpose of this PIN is to inform the market of prospective requirements, as far as the details are known at this time, for consumables to support provision of an Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP) service. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), is a Special Health Authority in the NHS and is responsible for the provision of blood components and a range of associated laboratory and patient therapeutic services to hospitals in England and North Wales. Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) is a team of medical and nursing staff which operate from 7 units across England (Bristol, London, Oxford, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester). Included in the TAS portfolio of therapeutic procedures is Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP) which is currently provided from the Bristol, Oxford, Manchester and Liverpool TAS sites. 1 of NHSBT's strategic objectives is to meet unmet patient demand for this specialist therapy. NHSBT provides ECP services for both adult and paediatrics using the Therakos Cellex closed system technology and currently owns 8 machine platforms. It is NHSBT's understanding that there are no other providers of this specific technology type able to be used in England. The purpose of this PIN is to notify the market and ask interested bidders who have an alternative solution to contact NHSBT. In the absence of any responses by the date below, NHSBT intend to procure the above services from Therakos UK Ltd, part of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. If there are any interested bidders with an alternative platform, please contact James Davenport by email (expressing their interest) at james.davenport@nhsbt.nhs.uk by no later than 17:00 (GMT) on Friday, 4.3.2016 including a brief of overview (or a website link) of the Goods/ Services which might be offered. It is the intention of NHSBT to award a Framework Agreement or contract for this requirement by 1.9.2016.
