TfL is a diverse organisation which is comprised of a number of previously independent organisations. The TfL estate also supports external organisations such as the Greater London Authority and the British Transport Police. Consequently the TfL estate is similarly diverse and whilst work has been done to consolidate and operate a single network it is still true to say that the estate encompasses a number of different environments and implementations. Following a strategic review it has been identified that there is a requirement to develop TfL's SAM capability. It has also been determined the fastest and most cost-effective route to accomplish this is through the procurement of an end-to-end SAM Managed Service Solution. The managed service will provide the specialised SAM capabilities that TfL need to mature its Software Asset Management practice and establish an effective operational SAM capability within its Information Management division. This will enable TfL to better identify and manage the risks and costs associated with it's use of software.
