NHSGGC Decontamination Service is based at Cowlairs Industrial Estate, Springburn, Glasgow and provides a Decontamination service to all operating theatres across all acute sites. The current floor management system is a bespoke system provided by T-Doc which allows the department to meet accreditation to the Medical Devices Council Directive 93/42/EEC and maintains accreditation to ISO 13485 Reprocessing Medical Devices by electronically documenting the processing parameters for every tray type processed within the unit. This includes staff names, washer disinfector parameters, steriliser parameters and other details which are required to be entered onto the system. This information allows trays to be traced to the patient in the event of a product recall, instrument recall by manufacturers and more importantly in the case of Creutzfeldt Jacob Disease (CJD). There have been bespoke upgrades to the system as new modules and user request for improvements have been made. The system integrates with all the processing equipment within the unit allowing all cycle parameters to be retained for a period of years as per the Medical Directive. New modules have been developed and third party licences have been purchased over the years as the processing equipment has been upgraded or new equipment introduced into the unit. It is proposed that the current service agreement is extended to include an additional 5 year Gold Service Agreement supporting proprietary bespoke T-DOC software modules, database and web server/client modules.
