Tender description

A maintenance and support contract is required for the UHF Tetra radio systems and all associated equipment in 115 public and private prisons throughout England and Wales. The main radio communication system encompasses c122 Rohill base stations with SafetyNet Digital software and c 17 600 Hytera Tetra radio terminals. Each prison operates a standalone TETRA network with no external connectivity. A small number of prisons and vehicles use the Airwave network to communicate with the emergency services using Sepura radio terminals. Remote Access Support for the radio networks is not currently available, but is a potential future option. The contract is expected to include the requirement to provide an option to replace some batteries, radio terminals and system PCs during the contract term where it is identified that they are at the end of their life. It will also cover decommissioning of equipment, provision of the service at new sites and amendments at existing sites. The current and expected service support model for this service is likely to be: — 24/7 help desk support; — 4 hour response and restoration of service where there is a significant loss of communication affecting all users on-site; — 8 hour response and restoration of service where there is some disruption to radio communication affecting a number of users; — Next working day response and fix for single terminal failure, on a repair by replacement basis.
