Tender description

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board wish to inform the market that they intend to award a contract for the provision of refurbishment of the passengers lifts 18 and 19 (B Block) at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. The existing B Block lifts were originally installed in 1971 and have undergone a very brief modernisation programme in 1993. Since this time there has been no modernisation works carried out on any of the controls or lifting gear. The equipment is out of date and parts need to be specifically sourced and made to order with extremely long lead times. Compatibility: Proposed refurbishment of 2 lifts to work with existing lift grouping (6 lift group). Due to urgency, the actual work needs to commence 2.1.2017 and both lifts need to be completed and operational by 3.4.2017. Motor Room: Controller: Provide and install new advanced microprocessor with built in diagnostic capabilities. Stop Switch: Provide and install new safety stop switch located adjacent to controller. Notices: Provide and install new safety notices for the motor room as necessary, for safe working. Machine: Provide and install new compact gearless machine driven by microprocessor technology which optimised lift behaviour and ride comfort (Speed 1,75m/s). Wiring: Replace existing wiring with new PVC to suit the site conditions. Emergency Stop Switches. Rope Hoes: Extend holes through floor slab for suspension belts. Test existing lifting beams. Lift Shaft: Provide and fit proven polyurethane coated flat belts with car and counterweight adaptors and belt pulleys. Shaft Wiring: Replace existing wiring with new PVC to suit site conditions. Trailing Cables Replace existing travelling cables. Pit Stop Switch Provide and install new mushroom headed safety type stop switch for safe working. Well Switches: Provide and install new limit switches to operate in conjunction with tape head system. Counterweight: Rebalance the counterweight. Replace existing shaft lighting. New Oil buffers. Lift Car: Provide and install new TOP of Car Inspection Unit to comply with BS7255 (EN81), for safe working on lifts. Car fixtures: Provide and install new Otis stainless finish car operating panel. Door Operator Existing to remain. Car Interior Existing to remain. Car and Landing Sills: Supply and Install new stainless Steel Sills. Landing: Landing Fixtures: Provide and Install new Otis push buttons at disabled access height, dual riser of full collective triplex operation. Provide and install new position indicator with lift direction arrow and gongs to all floors. Landing entrances: Provide new type tested locks to each landing entrance. Landing locks: provide new type tested locks to each landing entrance. Architraves: existing to remain. Provisional sum for renewal of 1 000 GBP per SF entrance. Aesthetic Items. Stainless Steel Sills, New counterweight screen. New hydraulic oils (2Nr). New OSG (Not A3 as this is covered by machine). De-group. Rebalance. New emergency shaft lighting. Three way intercom. Renew Guide shoe liners. Painting counterweights yellow. Building works: All associated building works. Act as principle contractor would be responsible for all Construction Design Management.
