Tender description

The University has an aspiration to refurbish levels 3, 4 and 5 of the Engineering Building plus basement and other occasional spaces, and to undertake Backlog Maintenance on the remainder of the building. The Houldsworth Building (Engineering) was constructed in 1960 and is located on the main campus in Leeds, building 48 University Campus Map: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/campus_map The building is a multi-storey unit constructed of concrete with a stone face. While the building isn't listed it sits within the conservation area. The area of the building is 12 200 m2. The building provides a mixture of teaching and research facilities. The project will aim to undertake a full refurbishment of floors 3, 4 and 5 and other areas plus a backlog maintenance refurbishment of the remaining areas. The building is now approaching an age when most of the original building services are due for replacement. The tender shall be awarded on a single stage design and build contract under the NEC 3 Form of Contract. For information, it is not intended to novate the design team.
