Who Speclialist Work With The Software Developer will be working within an Agile environment and be predominately working alongside 2 internal software developers and 1 external developer with support from a DBA for any work relating to the database. You'll report to the Software Development Manager and will work closely with the Product Owner who defines the sprints. The sprint team will also include application specialists and designers as and when required. What Specialists Work On The College of Policing is looking for highly skilled software developers to help deliver Phase 1 BETA MVP of the new Managed Learning Environment available to all Police Officers and Staff. Working within an MVC architecture, it will involve the writing of tests, creation of service layer functions, interrogation of SQL database through an NHibernate data layer, controller/actions, and the development of front-end web pages using HTML, jQuery, Bootstrap that will match pre-existing design work. Where the Work Takes Place Metropolitan Police Service, Peel Centre, Hendon, NW5 9JE Early Market Engagement User research on the existing platform has identified a series of improvements to improve the overall experience for Police Officers and Staff. The MVP addresses the user experience issues through a significant redesign and we are rebuilding the application to ensure it is compatible across all modern day browsers and mobile devices. Working Arrangements Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 36 Hours per week - Flexibility Working Patterns allowed Work Location Metropolitan Police Service, Peel Centre, Hendon, NW5 9JE Security Clearance Minimum NPPV2 - preferably with CTC Additional T&Cs Skills & Experience Extensive experience of ASP.NET MVC Extensive experience of C#.NET Good working knowledge of TDD and creating Unit Tests Extensive experience of HTML Extensive experience of JavaScript and jQuery Extensive experience of building responsive web applications using Bootstrap Extensive experience of CSS Experience of accessing relational databases (preferably SQL Server) through an existing data repository layer Experience of LINQ Experience of version control Must apply and promote the College of Policing Code of Ethics and Integrity principles Nice to Haves Experience of SQL Server database architecture and development Experience of NHibernate Experience of version control using Team Foundation Server Good Knowledge of UK Policing and associated Government agencies Thorough working knowledge of Learning Management Systems, e-learning creation and associated tools No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria Strong team working experience with the ability to think and problem solve independantly Strong experience working as part of an agile team participating in daily stand up and retrospectives Engaging with team to create an environment for knowledge sharing and handover of completed products with knowledge transfer Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues to a non-technical audience Strong ownership and commitment to delivery Good collaboration skills and ability to share skills and information among team members Ability to build and develop good working relationships with staff and stakeholders Assessment Method Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 60% Cultural fit 20% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers No questions have been answered yet Budget range £400-450 per day
