Tender description

The provision of sub-sea spare cable, joints and consumable is included in current subsea cable contracts within the Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission plc (SHET) Business on the Kintyre Hunterston (KH) and Caithness Moray (CM) Projects. SHET requires a permanent cable storage facility to accommodate the subsea spare cable and accessories on a long term basis for these and future Projects. The scope of the works will include the following: - —Port and water channel selection to meet the key criteria requirements (size of approximately 1 acre required, location in respect of SHET Projects, depth of water and marine access, tidal range, planning constraints, utilities, mooring aids, distance between facility and quayside, infrastructure, security, land purchase or rental costs, environmental constraints, contamination free); —Design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning and servicing of a purpose built cable storage facility including carousel and associated cable handling equipment to accommodate the long term storage and controlled loading and unloading requirements of the KH, CM Projects and future projects; —Operations, maintenance and security of the facility and subsea cables for up to a period of 40 years; —Consideration for potential partnership / collaboration with other organisations in respect of a combined facility.
