Tender description

Provision of a passenger and vehicle ferry service to meet the Department's obligations to provide a lifeline service between Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. The service includes: Summer and winter timetables to be maintained for 12 months of the year; carrying vehicles on the MV Spirit of Rathlin., passengers and freight together or by separate services for passengers and for vehicles and freight; ensuring that the vessels and any relief vessel are suitable for use on the route and can maintain the schedule in normal operating conditions; compliance with all applicable Merchant Shipping Legislation and as required by the MCA; Implementation of routine and frequent regular inspection of the vessels and associated machinery/equipment to facilitate preventative maintenance for the promotion of safe reliable operation; and co-operation with local Health, Ambulance, RNLI, Coastguard, Fire and Police services to provide emergency ‘blue light’ service call outs if required.
