Tender description
The project involves the design, development and construction of a twenty one class base primary school with two multi-purpose halls, a nurture suite, separate dining hall and chair store, and school meals kitchen and stores. There is a requirement for mobile accommodation and post-decant demolition and works will include the construction of 3G and grass play pitches, car-parking and site works. The new primary school will be constructed on two adjacent sites separated by a road and works will take place across three phases to facilitate installation of mobile accommodation and decant of existing building, construction of new building, and demolition of existing building followed by external works. The contract is for the Design & Development of provision of a twenty one class base primary school with two multi-purpose halls, a nurture suite, separate dining hall and chair store, and school meals kitchen and stores. In addition there will be associated site works, a playground, 3G Pitch and carpark and the demolition of the existing school buildings. The new 21 Class-base Primary School will be constructed on two adjacent sites separated by a road (Churchill Street). The new school building will be constructed on the existing Edmund Rice Christian Brothers Primary School site, on Pim Street. Additional car parking, the 3G pitch and grass play will be constructed on the existing Star of the Sea Primary School site on Churchill Street. The works will be carried out in 3 phases: Phase One will incorporate installation of 14 new temporary modular classrooms on the ‘Star of the Sea’ site, the decant of the Edmund Rice PS to this accommodation and the demolition of the existing Edmund Rice school. Phase Two will incorporate the construction of a new 21 Class-base Primary School on the Edmund Rice site, site works and decant to the new school. Phase Three will incorporate the demolition of the Star of the Sea School and installation of the additional car-parking, 3G Pitch and grass play. Mechanical And Electrical sub-contract works will be required. The construction period is likely to be around 100 weeks. The project shall be required on completion to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.
