Tender description

This specification will outline our requirements for a Research and Development, and production capable SLM machine. The SLM machine will be used to manufacture parts to be used within a variety of industries, such as medical and aerospace. Parts will be manufactured from both commercially available and developmental powders and therefore, system flexibility and operator access for process parameter development is a key requirement. In-line monitoring and control of the melt pool is also required. TWI is 1 of the world's foremost independent research and technology organisations, with expertise in solving problems in all aspects of manufacturing, fabrication and whole-life integrity management technologies. Established in Cambridge, UK in 1946 and with facilities across the globe, the company has a 1st class reputation for service through its teams of internationally respected consultants, scientists, engineers and support staffs, whose knowledge and expertise are available to its Industrial Members as and when they require. The initiative is funded by AMSCI to assist in developing and commissioning a unique, large-scale UK capability to supply clean powders suitable for Additive Manufacturing across a range of compositions to ensure reliable machine builds and component performance and to purchase equipment to be used in the facility. All equipment must be accepted on the TWI Sheffield by 30.11.2018 at the latest. Please ensure that an annotated copy of the specification stating compliance or non compliance against each point is included in your tender response.
