Derby City Council invites applications from all suitably qualified general practitioners, pharmacies and healthcare providers to supply a range of Public Health Primary Care Services across all seventeen wards covering the Derby City location under the following frameworks: NHS Health Checks Programme (Lot 1) Contraceptive implant fitting and management (Lot 2) Intra-uterine Contraception Device Fittings (IUCD) and Intra-uterine System (IUS) fitting, management and removal (Lot 3) Needle Exchange Service (Lot 4) Community Oral Emergency Contraception Service (Lot 5) Supervised Consumption Service (Lot 6). The NHS Health Check programme is a mandatory public health service for the local authority. The NHSHealth Check is a systematic vascular risk assessment and management programme to help prevent variouscardiovascular related diseases including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia and kidney disease. The requirement is to offer to the 20 per cent of all eligible patients registered within Derby City aged 40-74 years, an NHS Health Check as part of a 5 year rolling programme with an uptake level of 50 %-75 %. The service includes the provision, fitting, checking, monitoring and removal of contraceptive implants licensed for use in the UK (Nexplanon ®) to women who choose this method of contraception as the most acceptable to them, provided that it is not contraindicated. The service also includes the ongoing management of contraceptive implants to address any concerns/difficulties identified by the patient. The provider will offer and provide contraception implants, as part of a range of contraception choices, to women registered with a GP practice and where applicable, to women registered with other practices through collaborative agreements. The service includes the provision, fitting, checking, monitoring and removal of intrauterine contraceptivedevices/systems (IUCDs/IUS) licensed for use in the UK to women for contraception or for emergencycontraception as appropriate. The provider will offer and provide IUCDs/IUS, as part of a range of contraceptionchoices, to women registered with a GP practice and where applicable, to women registered with other practicesthrough collaborative agreements. The main aim of the Needle Exchange Service is to reduce the transmission of blood-borne viruses and othe rinfections caused by sharing injecting equipment, such as HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. In turn this reducesthe prevalence of blood-borne viruses and bacterial infections — so benefiting wider society. The service will be provided to individuals aged 18 years and over. It will be available across all the opening hours of the designated pharmacy. The Needle Exchange service is a confidential service, offered free of charge to clients requiring sterile drug injecting equipment. It is not dependent upon engagement by the individual with any other service. The service provider will supply Levonorgestrel Oral Emergency Contraception (OEC) when appropriate, to young women under the age of 18 years; in-line with the requirements of the locally produced Patient Group Direction (PGD) and provide support and advice to young women accessing the service, including advice on the avoidance of pregnancy and STIs, through safer sex and condom use, regular contraceptive methods and provide onward signposting to services which specialise in these areas. Clients over the age of 18 years will be appropriately signposted to alternative providers of free OEC and advised that they may purchase OECat pharmacies over the counter at their own cost. Consumption Service is the provision of prescribed medication — namely methadone or buprenorphine to clients who are required to have their doses supervised within a pharmacy setting. The service will be delivered to clients aged 18 years or over who are resident in Derby and present with a script requiring supervision at the named pharmacy.
