Summary of the work Define, implement, manage, maintain the hosting environments working with suppliers and other Stakeholders to ensure fit for service architecture/processes are implemented. Building and configuring new server platforms and infrastructure, using automated tooling. Identification and development of resources to establish a sustainable internal capability for long term DevOps and hosting needs. Latest start date 10/10/2016 Who Speclialist Work With The Lead DevOps Specialist will work closely with a Delivery Manager, Project Managers, Product Owners, Developers and Sys Admins across Internal and External Stakeholders. What Specialists Work On Define, implement, manage and maintain the hosting environments required to support Innovate UKs strategic objectives for platforms and hosting, working with suppliers and other Stakeholders as necessary to ensure fit for service architecture and processes are implemented Operational management of Infrastructure and applications Building and configuring new server platforms and infrastructure, using automated tooling to do so Testing, debugging and troubleshooting of platform level problems Supporting development teams configuring applications for deployment Assessing the DevOps Maturity of the organisation and identifying/implementing improvements as applicable Identification/development of resources to establish a sustainable internal capability for long term Devops and hosting needs Skills & Experience • Proven (and recent) experience on cloud migration to a modern platform utilising configuration management. • Understanding of common web application architectures • Strong linux system administration skills, predominantly in CentOS and RHEL • Experience debugging a complex multi-server service • Securely Deploying and configuring machines in a Cloud environment • Installation and management of COTS/open source monitoring tools such as Nagios, New Relic, OSSEC, ELK • Familiarity with network protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc. • Experience of containerisation, ideally using Docker • Experience of using automated environment build tooling e.g. Terraform • Experience of building infrastructure within the AWS cloud using AWS technologies such as lambda, s3, ec2, iam, ebs, elastic beanstalk, route53, ses, rds, elasticache, autoscaling, loadbalancers, vpc • Strong scripting and language skills i.e. Ruby, Bash, Python, Java • Experience of automated software configuration, ideally using Ansible • Experience of continuous integration tooling, ideally using Bamboo / Jenkins • Skills in networking / routing / load balancing and VPN configuration • Vagrant/Virtualbox, CoreOS, Docker/lxc-container. • Databases - Oracle/PL-SQL, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB) • Others – Jira, Confluence, Stash, Nexus, Artifactory, SonarQube Nice to Haves • Understanding of application deployment strategies and continuous integration • CESG certified professional (IA Architect) • Familiar with agile delivery • Working within a product-centric environment Work Location Innovate UK North Star House, North Star Avenue, Swindon SN2 1UE Other locations maybe required but will be agreed in advance. Working Arrangments Monday to Friday on site, locations as described above. What is the maximum day rate? £750 per day 2. What will you require after the deadline - skills and experience template, work history template or CV? After the deadline we would look for suppliers to have provided a completed skills and experience template in order for the shortlisting process to take place.Following the shortlisting process those suppliers selected for further evaluation will be expected to provide the work history template, cv and references followed by Interview as specified under Assessment Methods. 3.
