Tender description

A Request for Information (RFI) has been prepared by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) for the purpose of gathering information about the technical and financial feasibility of different scenarios and the solutions provided by cloud hosting services, together with the capabilities of the cloud hosting providers, and the potential benefits that each of these might bring to support the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) infrastructure at ECMWF. ECMWF is not looking for detailed proposals at this stage, and there will be no commitment on the part of respondents. Responses will however assist ECMWF in understanding the market interest and available options, and hence in influencing its decision to tender for this service and its approach to such. Based on all the inputs received, it is expected to issue a tender in the final quarter of 2016 for providers of cloud compute services. Estimated cost for the future tender will be established after finalisation of the RFI step therefore there is no financial value attributed to this PIN. Responses to this RFI should be submitted by email as per the instructions in Clause 1.5 of the RFI document by 12:00 UK local time on 7.10.2016.
