Tender description
The Authority has identified the need to extend its existing xPlan access control system to 38 locations around the West Midlands region. It is assumed that the most cost effective solution will be achieved by extending the existing xPlan system and re-using all of the hardware, software cards and associated interfaces with the HR and Timekeeping systems for those sites already fitted with access control. The existing system uses xPlan V9.x software and is compatible with all 'Plan' controller hardware options. Please note that WMFRA ICT department have invested a significant amount of time and effort into the creation of HR and transaction based timekeeping links with the xPlan system at a database level. The saving must therefore be sufficient to off-set the requirement for re-development of these interfaces. Any tenders that propose a retrofit replacement of the existing systems must allow for the replacement to occur out-of-hours and at their own cost. The cost of a replacement system would need to include the following potential areas: retrofit of card readers and door access control to HQ building and Haden Cross Fire Station, a replacement ICT server, the re-writing of interfaces by the Authority's ICT department for HR and timekeeping systems, replacement ID cards for all staff and training on a new system.
