Tender description
The works comprise the regeneration of the Pillgwenlly Housing Estate in Newport, South Wales. The objective of the project is to address the legacy of the ‘Redburn’ residential layout of the estate. This will be achieved by improving the quality of the public realm through the use of better materials, planting and enhanced pedestrian priority. Existing building fabric and facades will be upgraded to create more identity and differentiation of key locations within the estate. In conjunction with the public realm and landscape proposals the project scope includes the following elements which can be defined under the following categories: — New Build development (2Nr 3 bed houses, 9Nr 1 bed flats/apartments); — Conversion of garages into community use; — Demolition of existing garages to create underpasses; — Re-cladding existing buildings; — Selective demolition; — Internal layout reconfiguration at Raglan Court; — Extensive Boundary Treatments; — Site wide modification to Existing Public Utilities and drainage; — New Street Lighting installation; — Provision of a new electricity substation.
