Tender description

Tower Hamlets council is seeking a service provider to deliver Translation, Transcription and Interpretation Services. With 4 149 interpretations and translations performed by external suppliers in 2013/14, and 63 transcriptions carried out in 2014, the provider will need to have the capacity to meet the diverse language needs of the growing population of the borough. The service provider will be required to work closely with the following directorates whom will utilise this service frequently: Development and Renewal, Communities and Localities, Resources, and Education, Social Care and Wellbeing. The contract has been split into 3 separate lots: Lot 1: Translation Services; Lot 1 Total value: 45 000 GBP. This will relate to the translation of written documents such as booklets, emails, and letters from 1 language into their complete and accurate meaning in another language. Lot 2: Interpretation Services; Lot 2 Total value: 369 000 GBP. This will relate to the act of oral translation for parties conversing in different languages. This translation takes place verbally and through many different methods including face to face, telephone, and video interpretation. This lot also includes British Sign Language interpretation. Lot 3: Transcription Services Lot 3 Total value: 36 000 GBP. This will relate to the conversion of spoken words into printed/written versions. Bidders are invited to bid for 1 or more lots. The council encourages organisations to come together and bid as a consortium, with 1 lead supplier working with 1 or more organisations. LBTH will however contract with the lead supplier in this situation.
