Tender description

Each year, Thames Water and members of their supply chain stockpile, deliver and spread approximately 700 000 tonnes of biosolids to land. Thames Water are seeking a supplier or number of suppliers to continue the delivery of this operation. There are 3 key activities required to in this operation: 1. Loading, haulage and stockpiling of compliant biosolids: — Management and storage of biosolids at Thames Water sewage treatment works; — Haulage of biosolids between Thames Water sewage treatment works (~75 000 tonnes in 2014/15); — Haulage of biosolids to the customer and stockpiling on the customer site (~700 000 tonnes in 2014/15). This includes provision of temporary hard-standing. Management of customer site stockpiles may also be required. 2. Spreading: — Spreading of the biosolids at the customer sites (~700 000 tonnes in 2014/15); — Management of stockpiles on customer sites where necessary. 3. Non-compliant biosolids to restoration: — Provisioning land/restoration sites appropriate for the disposal of non-compliant biosolids (i.e. biosolids which cannot be spread on agricultural land); — Removal and haulage of non-compliant biosolids to restoration sites (~115 000 tonnes removed in 2014/15). The procurement exercise will be divided into 3 lots: 1. Loading, haulage and stockpiling of compliant biosolids; 2. Spreading; 3. Non-compliant biosolids to restoration. Participants can apply for 1 or more lots: Thames Water reserves the right to award the framework(s) for any part of any lot (by activity, sub region or other division), the whole lot, or combination of lots based on the most economically advantageous tender. Thames Water reserve the right to award as combined lots to a single supplier (either the combination of 2 lots or all 3 lots in any combination), as is most economically advantageous to the operation. Thames Water reserves the right to enter into a contract or contracts for the provision of all or any number of lots. Thames Water reserve the right to include or remove additional Bio Recycling related scope into any of the lots as required. Thames Water reserve the right not to award a framework(s) for 1 or more lots, both in full or in part. There is no guarantee of volume of work to be awarded. It is envisaged that the framework(s) will be awarded for the duration of 5 years with extension options up to a maximum of 7 years. This notice is a request for expressions of interest to participate in the bid process to establish the framework agreements.
