Tender description

Radio, television, communication, telecommunication and related equipment. Radio beacons. Radio transmission apparatus with reception apparatus. The present procurement forms part of Calliope, a fleet wide capability update programme aiming to address communications equipment obsolescence within RN and RFA surface vessels. In particular the Authority is considering placing a contract for the replacement of current V/UHF radios, including future support, by delivering a single solution based on modern technology, enabling rationalisation as well as convergence and coherence of equipment along with their support arrangements. The selected solution will be installed on 13 Type 23 Frigates, 6 shore sites and other training establishments. The contract will include options to install and support versions of the solution on fifteen MCMVs and OPVs. A further option will be included for future installations on Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels and associated support. With the above in mind the total number of radios to be procured, installed and integrated might reach up to 300. Support for the solution will be required from Initial Operating Capability for an initial period of 5 years.
