Tender description

Officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in February 2007, Cancer Research UK, Cambridge Institute aims to bring the scientific strengths of Cambridge to bear on practical questions of cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The Institute focuses specifically on the practical application of high-quality basic research, forming a bridge between the world-class science of the University of Cambridge and its environment, Addenbrooke's Hospital, and other institutes and departments on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This world-class institute currently has a mix of scientists and support staff totalling with up to 600 people who include full time permanent staff, temporary staff, those visiting the building and those regular visitors from our neighbouring organisations of whom are in regular contact with us. Currently staff work across 5 floors: The Basement, Ground Floor, 1st Floor, 2nd Floor. and 3rd Floor. The Institutes Plant Room is positioned on the 4th floor and its energy centre is on the ground floor. In total 16 488 square meters of secure laboratory, scientific resource, office, café and plant/energy room space. All floors are served by 3 central lifts and 3 staircases: North, Central and South. Each floor has varying uses. The Building requires a high standard of cleaning along with a proactive approach from its cleaners to ensure that the buildings cleaning standards are achieved. The contract is monitored and run by the use of Key Performance Indicators that require a monthly meeting, to enable the Facilities Manager of the building to meet with the Cleaning Contractor and discuss the way in which things are running. Usage of Consumables is also important and is monitored each month so that usage can be estimated and the correct amount of items brought to site at the right time of year.
