Is there any particular design or visual tools that the BIS would like the candidate to have? Commonly used design software in BIS includes Sketch and InDesign but there is no absolute requirement. In general we prefer software tools that do not lock government in to high purchase prices and/or ongoing subscription costs. However the choice of tool is less important than the ability to produce, export and share design output with colleagues in BIS. 2. Specifically related to question “Show a minimum of 2 years’ experience producing or editing high-quality written communications in a professional context (scores 5%) What does this consist of exactly are you looking for someone who does entirely content (written communications) or someone who has dealt with it in their career as a visual designer? I think content design borders on advertising What Government means about content design: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/content-design/what-is-content-designThis role is mostly visual design; they must also be able to produce clear, professional written communication. Yes, we want someone who has dealt with this sort of thing either during their career as a visual designer, or through additional experience.Examples of experience might include:- writing words for the web (as part of interface or service design)- publishing or editorial work (could be offline, doesn't have to be for the web)- blogging on behalf of an employer- turning an understanding of user needs into clear, helpful words
