Summary of the work Overall support to the Network Product Manager in carrying out the activities required to deliver the network strategies. Supporting the deployment and migration to the new networking solutions. Specialist role Web operations engineer Expected Contract Length 24 months, but may be shorter, depending on how the project develops and the needs. Latest start date 01/07/2016 Maximum Day Rate £550 Who Speclialist Work With Working for the Network Product Manager, Partner Organisations IT technical teams, 3rd party vendors, and CTP (Common Technology platform) team. What Specialists Work On *Audit existing networks within the BIS Group estate *Contribute to network migration strategies *Contribute to the design of network security *Attend workshops with suppliers and 3rd parties to validate network strategies *Implementation and administration of network management tools *Support the existing network infrastructure Skills & Experience • Have experience configuring Juniper Firewalls and/or Switches (Scores 10%) • Have at least 5 years' experience in network design (Scores 9%) • Have at least 5 years' experience in switching and routing (Scores 5%) • Have at least 5 years' experience in firewalls and security (Scores 5%) • Have at least 5 years' experience with network tools such as HP Open View, Nagios etc (Scores 4%) • Have at least 5 years' experience with network tools such as HP Open View, Nagios etc (Scores 4%) • Have knowledge of data centre network architectures (Scores 4%) • Have at least 5 years' experience deploying and administering modern Wi-Fi solutions (Scores 4%) • Have experience working with multiple vendors (Scores 2%) • Have experience of working in an agile team (Scores 2%) Nice to Haves • Have previous experience in a government transformation programme (Scores 1%) • Have networking qualifications at least CCNP or equivalent (Scores 10%) Work Location Department for Business, Innovation & Skills 1 Victoria Street London SW1H 0ET Working Arrangments Monday to Friday on site. Would university degree in IT Engineer would considered as equivalent to CCNP?Our engineer has graduated in computer engineering where he studied modules related to networking, so was wondering if that would be equivalent to CCNA as nice to have skills for this role?Further to our question about CCNP - we have engineer graduated from the University of Greenwich in computer science and has studied cisco classes as part of his education in the university. would you consider his university degree as equivalent to CCNP? No, this is very different. We are requesting it would be nice to have for an individual to have CCNP (higher qualification than CCNA), which i would expect people to have in addition to a degree or relevant years worth of experience.
