Tender description
The Council wishes to award contracts for construction works at up to 3 primary school locations under this Restricted competitive procurement process. This requirement has arisen due to the estimated cost of each of these individual projects is expected to exceed the limit of the Councils existing framework agreements. The information currently available for each of the 3 schemes is shown under each respective lot. NYCC wishes to award a contract for the adaptation and expansion of Coppice Valley Primary School. The work comprises of a new 6 classroom detached building and a new hall/studio extension to the main schools. There will also be alterations to the east elevation of the main school building to create a new external door providing access from the existing school to the new building via external stairs. Internal works comprise of alterations and refurbishment to the Infants' WC and cloaks area, alterations and refurbishment to the existing staff room to create a larger staff room area including a new store and kitchenette, refurbishment and alterations to the existing library/multi-use space. The external works comprise of additional parking, lighting, fencing, pathways, playground extensions and storage. Approximate floor areas are as follows: classroom block 770m2, hall extension 115m2 and refurbishment 200m2. More information will be contained in the tender documentation for this lot, which is scheduled to be available in July 2016, and will be conducted separately from the other lots. The Council does not bind itself to these time scales and this information is provided to give contractors an estimate. The estimated budget range for this Lot is 1 500 000 GBP to 2 500 000 GBP. Please note the estimate value stated at II.2.6) is the maximum budget. NYCC wishes to award a contract for the adaptation and expansion of Athelstan Community Primary School, Sherburn-in-Elmet. The scheme that this lot relates to comprises of 2 storey teaching block (9 classrooms, group rooms and ancillary facilities). Internal alterations within the main school building to facilitate the connection of the circulation route between the existing and new parts of the building along with alterations to undersized classrooms, forming additional storage areas and creating a new internal corridor. Other alterations include relocation of the existing staff room and library together with general refurbishment and alterations to the existing rooms and kitchen extension. External work to construct a new access road with drop-off bays, additional car parking for 69 cars (including staff), extensions to the playground area and new sports pitches. Approximate floor areas are as follows: classroom block — 1 265m2, small class extension — 20m2 and refurbishment of existing areas — 650m2. Note: An initial phase to extend the nursery and small hall has been awarded via a separate contract and will be on-site until August 2016. This contract area is separate to this scheme. More information will be contained in the tender documentation for this lot, which is scheduled to be available in March 2016, and will be conducted separately from the other lots. The Council does not bind itself to these time scales and this information is provided to give contractors an estimate. The estimated budget range for this Lot is 3 400 000 GBP to 4 400 000 GBP. Please note the estimate value stated at II.2.6) is the maximum budget. NYCC wishes to award a contract for the adaptation and expansion of Brooklyn House Youth Centre to create a Satellite teaching accommodation for Norton Community Primary School. The proposal is to develop the Brooklyn House site on nearby Langton Road to alleviate pressure on the existing school and create space for growth at both sites. The Langton Road site is approximately 500m away from the ‘Main School’ at the end of Grove Street. The scheme that this Lot relates to comprises of: The Brooklyn site contains 2 buildings both in use, Brooklyn House and the Sea Cadets building which is constructed on land leased from NYCC and will remain operational throughout the construction period. The scheme adapts the existing house and extends the building to provide 6 classrooms and all associated facilities to enable the site to operate independently of the main school site and contains a full range of ancillary accommodation and support spaces including a School Hall/Dining Room, Kitchen, Community Room/Studio, School Library, a general office and a Staffroom. Externally the site will need to be developed to create sports pitches, playground areas and access and parking. Approximate floor areas are as follows: kitchen extension — 75m2, main extension — 895m2, refurbishment of existing areas — 430m2. More information will be contained in the tender documentation for this lot, which is scheduled to be available in July 2016 and will be conducted separately from the other lots. The Council does not bind itself to these time scales and this information is provided to give contractors an estimate. The estimated budget range for this Lot is 2 300 000 GBP to 3 300 000 GBP. Please note the estimate value stated at II.2.6) is the maximum budget.
