The Council is seeking proposals from video production companies with an expertise in storytelling to create a film or films documenting: - the Alma Estate (Ponders End, Enfield) - the lives of the people who live there and the heritage of the local area - Council led regeneration across the borough - putting into context the redevelopment of the Alma Estate - the Alma Estate redevelopment itself - demolition of existing and the construction of new homes and - its impact on the locality- Alma Primary School, shops and neighbouring roads. The film is intended to serve as an oral history of the Alma Estate and how the redevelopment has changed the lives of people living on the estate and therefore an important local studies record. An Alma Film Board will oversee the delivery of the film and will hold editorial control. The film will primarily capture the story of the phased development of the Alma Estate over a 10 year build programme up until 2026. Demolition of the first tower lock is due to commence in early 2016 with the first new homes ready in Spring 2018, with the decant and rehousing of existing residents ongoing. The redevelopment of the Alma Estate is over four main phases and the film will be funded by Countryside Partnerships on a phase by phase basis. The Council will draw down a set amount of £20,000 per phase; £80,000 in total. The successful bidder will demonstrate the best value for money for the funding. A proposal may lend itself to a film in four parts that could also stand as films in their own right. The Council is keen to receive proposals as to how filmmakers will capture the lives of people who still will be living on the Alma estate after all the redevelopment is complete and how they react to the new people coming to the area.
