Tender description
The work covered by this contract is intended to meet the continual servicing and monitoring requirements of Approved Code of Practice L8 (the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems) and HSG274 to minimise the risk from Legionella bacteria and the scalding risk from hot water. Essentially the purpose is to ensure that all domestic hot water and cold water systems are maintained in a safe and hygienically satisfactory condition through a process involving biannual inspection and testing. For the purpose of the tender the systems to be covered by this contract are hot and cold domestic systems, together with any permanently connected equipment (e.g. Rainwater Systems) but excluding air conditioning equipment, swimming pools and hydrotherapy pools. An OJEU advert notice has also been placed for a water survey and risk assessment provision. Applicants should be aware that, it is Staffordshire County Councils intention to have 2 different economic operators for these contracts, e.g. removing any conflict of interest, therefore, they will not be awarded both to the same contractor. The Production of risk assessment/RSM will be separated from the maintenance/monitoring contract thereby adhering to ‘Best Practise’ principles. However, as a condition of the contract, the economic operator appointed to undertake the risk assessments and provide RSM's should be required to monitor any changes in guidance or legislation and update the RSM's as required, which will be addressed in the full tender specification). Contractors bidding for both will be requested to show preference at the invitation to tender stage.
