Tender description

Town Gardens Footbridge Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the demolition and removal of an existing Victorian Footbridge and replacement with a steel footbridge with hardwood timber parapets and deck supported on new reinforced concrete abutments and central pier. The works associated with Town Gardens Footbridge will include the following:- i) Establishment and maintenance of site access routes and site fencing. ii) Demolition of the existing footbridge comprising steel frame (2.35 tonnes) and reinforced concrete deck (6.2m3) and mass concrete foundations (6.5m3). iii) Excavation and backfilling to abutments and foundations. iv) Excavation for footpaths. v) Construction of a reinforced concrete pier on new reinforced concrete foundations. vi) Construction of 2nr reinforced concrete abutments on new reinforced concrete foundations. vii) Design, fabrication and installation of 2nr x 7.5m steel footbridges with hardwood timber parapets and decking. viii) Re-construction of bitmac footpaths to revised line and levels. ix) Cladding the abutments and central pier with reconstituted stone facing. Project Description The Town Gardens Footbridge contract comprises the demolition and removal of an existing Victorian Footbridge and replacement with a steel footbridge with hardwood timber parapets and deck supported on new reinforced concrete abutments and central pier. Town Gardens Footbridge is located in a formal public park off of Quarry Road and Westlecot Road in Old Town, Swindon. The approximate OS Grid Reference is 415190, 183473 Full details relating to the Works are provided in the tender documents. Contract Period The contract will be initially for a period of 8 weeks commencing 5th September 2016. The relevant tender documents are included within this project webpage as attachments. Tender Responses are required to be submitted no later than 25th April 2016, 14.00GMT by hardcopy to Swindon Borough Council only (refer to the Invitation to Tender document) If you require any clarifications on the tender documents please submit these in writing via e-mail, including the project name clearly in the e-mail title, to Lynsey Brookfield at hppd@swindon.gov.uk by 18th April 2016, 12.00 GMT. The Council?s responses to these clarification questions will be uploaded as attachments on the project webpage attachments section.
