Tender description

The stratigraphic nomenclature for Offshore Ireland is currently informal. A consistent framework for zonation needs to be refined and modified for the Irish basins, led by the integration of extensive existing well data, seismic and improved sampling techniques. This study will produce a biostratigraphic and lithostratigraphic regionally-correlative framework across all the offshore Irish basins. The proposed framework will also be compared to coeval equivalents in neighbouring hydrocarbon provinces. Analysis will include data from the Porcupine, Rockall, Slyne, Erris, Donegal, Goban Spur, Fastnet, North and South Celtic Sea, Kish and Central Irish Sea basins. Additionally this synthesis will support, or challenge, existing models of paleogeography and provide insights to reservoir, source and seal fairways to aid in hydrocarbon exploration. Comparisons of paleogeography with eastern Canada along the conjugate margin will be drawn based on conclusions from this analysis and previous studies. This study is a proposal from the Irish Shelf Petroleum Studies Group (ISPSG) of the Petroleum Infrastructure Programme (PIP).
