Tender description

The Scottish Ministers invite Tenderers to tender to provide for the provision of the Collection of Livestock Sales and Price Data in Scotland for the period 1.7.2016 to 30.6.2017 with an option to extended the contract for 2 x 1 year periods up to 30.6.2019. The Scottish Government Rural and Environment Science and Analytical Services (RESAS) wishes to place a contract for the collection of livestock sales and prices. The Contractor is required to provide details of weekly sales of cattle and sheep through auction markets in Scotland, covering store and breeding animals. The aim is to collect weekly prices and numbers of livestock sold via the markets such that reliable average prices of different ages, categories and breeds of livestock can be calculated at a Scottish level. The data collected are used primarily in the annual calculations of Total Income from Farming in Scotland. Average prices are also made available to the industry, academics and others by publishing data in the farming press, on the Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) website and within RESAS publications on the Scottish Government website.
