NL435 Preston: Eastway Habitat Creation Works Contract 2015

Tender description

The HCA is seeking to appoint a competent Contractor for habitat creation and enhancement works in Spring 2015 on a fixed price basis. The primary ecological function of the site will be to act as a receptor site for common toads which will be trapped on the land north of Eastway in spring 2016 as part of the development proposals. The Works include but are not exclusively limited to the following; site setup and mobilisation; vegetation clearance; earthworks; pond creation (including lining and filling); installation of toad exclusion fencing; creation of hibernacula; hedgerow, aquatic and structure planting; and grassland creation. Works are notifiable under CDM. A CDMC has been appointed by the Employer. The minimum level of Public Indemnity & Employers Liability insurance cover needed for this Contract is £5 million and £10 million respectively. Works are to have commenced on site by 9th March 2015. Contractor should also be aware of the following key dates: • Completion of pond/scrape excavation and mound creation (pond lining and cover material can be completed after this date) – 31st March 2015 • Completion of native structure and hedgerow planting complete – 31st March 2015 • Practical completion (except 75% brash pile placement) - 24th April 2014 • Completion of all brash pile placement - 31st March 2016 • End of Maintenance Period - 23rd April 2016 • End of Rectification Period – 23rd April 2016 All Tendering Contractors must be confident that they have the capacity to start and delivery the Contract as per the above timescales. The site will be available for viewing during this Tender. Tenderers’ will be required to visit the site prior to Pricing and will be required to confirm this within the Tender return.
