SBRI Challenge-Enhanced Individual Protective Equipment

Tender description

This project will employ Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) techniques in order to produce personalised protective body armour solutions with minimum impact on the wearers performance. Additive Manufacturing processes build parts layer-by-layer, directly from a 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) model, and differs from conventional manufacturing techniques as it requires no tooling. This facilitates the realisation of design concepts that are typically too expensive, difficult or impossible to create using traditional manufacturing processes, including complex internal geometries and multiple assemblies as a single unit. The work is to be undertaken in accordance with the SBRI application 58420-443195 part 8, as submitted to and held by Innovate UK for the Enhanced Individual Protective Equipment Protection programme.
