COV - Construction of Tiverton SEN Broad Spectrum Replacement School

Tender description

The Council wishes to appoint a principal partnering contractor to build the below works project. The works are to provide a new build SEN Broad Spectrum school and potentially an Early Years facility (Form of Entry to be confirmed), within the boundary and on the site of Former Alice Stevens SEN School. The former school will require demolition prior to commencement to allow for new build. The site is also shared with a fully operational 2FE school Whitley Abbey Primary. There is only one entrance to the site which will remain and need to be shared. The programme of building works is required to have the whole school site handed over at start of school term September 2017. The new build facility along with associated demolition, landscaping of existing must be completed by this time. Coventry City Council's individual school brief and feasibility will form the basis of the designs together with the Standards for School Premises regulations. Designs should also be in line with BB102: Designing for disabled children and children with special educational needs and in keeping with current good practice. Full operation of Whitley Abbey Primary School is to be maintained during construction and some aspects of work may be required to be phased. The value of the construction works is estimated to be £8M. Due to the nature of these works this contract has not been broken into Lots.
