This piece of economic research about the BBC’s               market impacts will be considered by ministers             alongside other sources of evidence and public             opinion to make decisions about the way the BBC                 should operate over the next Charter period. It will,                in particular, make a contribution to assessing             questions about the BBC’s scale and scope. In this                 context, this piece of research will look at the way                   the BBC interacts and competes with other content               providers, across the spectrum of all its activities.               Questions around ‘crowding out’ of commercial           services often come up in the context of the                 presence of publicly funded services and           interventions and will be considered systematically           as part of this piece of research, as will positive                   impacts the BBC might have on competitors.
