Tender description

The Council has twin Data Centres running VMWare virtualisation technology on both servers and desktops (VDI). The technology is implemented to allow for a robust configuration to be in place, so that the overall strategic principle is on premises as opposed to cloud based. Due to the financial constraints it is critically important that the Councils IT strategy, costs and Licencing options are aligned. This will allow front line services to maintain functionality, whilst ensuring efficiencies with the cost of software to do so is minimised. Depending upon the procurement conditions and costs presented to the Council as part of this preliminary exercise, it may be necessary for the Council to tailor its ICT Strategy and software options before committing to an Enterprise Agreement from 2016 onwards. (Including consideration to migrate away from certain MS products). It is the intention of Halton Borough Council, to undertake a further procurement exercise from the outcome of this process which will lead to a replacement Enterprise Agreement with potentially alternative Licensing Agreements. This may come in the form of a Tender or through a Mini-Competition via a framework. The successful supplier from this opportunity and all suppliers expressing an interest in this opportunity will be permitted to submit a quote if the council decides to publish a Tender for the replacement of a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
