The maintenance of the online aviation safeguarding tool is required to enable potential domestic wind turbine developers to ascertain whether their installation falls within safeguarded land as defined in the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015, and in relation to Wales under Part 40 of the Town and Country (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (as amended), which includes aviation safeguarded zones.
