The Authority is seeking an experienced Air Show Consultant with a proven track record to deliver a minimum two (2) day Air Show Event in Torbay over a weekend in June 2016. It is intended that the Consultant will provide a continuous flying programme to include military and civilian aircraft, parachute display teams and, if possible, international attractions within the agreed budget. The Authority has secured a start up fund of £60,000 from the Coastal Communities Fund. This funding must bring in at least five million pounds (£5,000,000) in new business and spending to the economy of Torbay through the event. The event must be sustainable year after year. The balance of the funding is being raised through sponsorship which is the subject of a separate procurement process. The event is expected to be supported by at least 150,000 visitors across the two days of the event and, if similar to Weston-Super-Mare, Bournemouth, Dawlish and Eastbourne Air Shows, attendance could be much higher. The Air Show is expected to be the largest event delivered in Torbay in terms of visitor numbers in recent years.
