Tender description
PISA, the Programme for International Assessment, is an OECD study that takes place every three years, beginning in 2000. It is implemented in Ireland by the Educational Research Centre (ERC), Dublin, on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills. In Ireland, 168 schools across the country have been selected to take part in PISA 2015. For the first time, the assessment will be completed entirely on computers. Assessments will take place in schools during the month of March. In order to carry out the assessment, external staff will administer the assessments using laptops. Tech support staff are responsible for transporting and setting up the laptops, providing technical assistance and troubleshooting during the assessment (along with reports of any technical issues), and backing- up or uploading response data. The Educational Research Centre is now seeking the supply of laptop computers for PISA 2015. The minimum specifications are: • CPU Speed: 1500 MHz • Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8 • System RAM: 1GB installed, 768 MB available • Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 pixels • Screen Size: 13.3 inches (338 mm) • USB Key Transfer rate: 9 MB/sec. Tenders should list the following ex-VAT costs, though the final contract may not include software installation: • 800 laptops for the period from the 2nd of February 2015 to the 10th of April; • Each additional 100 up to a maximum of 1,200; • 20 laptops for the extended period to the 29th of May; • Installation of test software on internal hard disks, and removal upon completion of the project, again for 800 and each additional 100 up to 1,200. Please see attached document for more details.
