Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) was established by the Irish Government under the Horse and Greyhound Racing Act 2001. It is a commercial semi-state body that took over the functions previously carried out by the Irish Horse Racing Authority. HRI subsidiaries include Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Ltd (ITM), Tote Ireland Ltd and HRI Racecourses (Leopardstown Racecourse, Fairyhouse Racecourse, Navan Racecourse and Tipperary Racecourse). • Leopardstown Racecourse (The Leopardstown Club Ltd) Leopardstown Racecourse is located six miles due south of Dublin City Centre. It stages approximately 23 race meetings throughout the year, including the Christmas Festival, the Hennessy Gold Cup, the Irish Champion Stakes and a series of evening meetings throughout the summer months. • Fairyhouse Racecourse (Fairyhouse Club Ltd) Fairyhouse Racecourse is located outside Ratoath, Co. Meath, 13 miles from Dublin and ten minutes from Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. It is home of the Boylesports Irish Grand National and has attendances of up to 75,000 per annum. • Navan Racecourse (Navan Races Ltd) Navan Racecourse is located just outside Navan Town, Co. Meath and hosts a number of highly prestigious race meetings each year. • Tipperary Racecourse (The Tipperary Race Company plc) Tipperarary Racecourse is located on the main Limerick to Waterford road (N24), approximately two miles from Tipperary town. High profile events include the Abergwaun Stakes and the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fairy Bridge Stakes.
