Tender description
The scope of this project is to engage with a vendor-agnostic 3rd party to advise TPR of any shortcomings or potential improvements with our current backup solution(s). TPR currently uses a number of different products to backup and replicate data, some of which have not been updated for over a year. TPR runs a 99% virtualised environment using VMWare products and when the backup solution was implemented in 2007, physical servers were still in use. There may a case for investigating more efficient backup methods and architectures. We would therefore like consultation on the following areas: - recommended best platform or process for backup of SQL servers – Netbackup agent/maintenance plan/other technology - is Netbackup still best suited to our environment? we currently have a mix of the following technologies: 1. Netbackup v7.5 2. Veeam 3. Datacore replication 4. SQL mirroring - TPR is still using LTO3 tapes – any benefit of upgrading to LTO6? - Set up/tweak retention periods in line with best practice – currently a lot of time spent manually expiring backup tapes - Check for duplicate backups, and backups of backups. - Check Falconstor setup and version – also deduplication and replication schedules – upgrade if needed - Check Veeam setup and version – upgrade if needed
