SUPPLY OF ONE NUMBER HIGH DENSITY REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX.

Tender description

The Employer requires a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to construct, deliver and offload to MAGNOX Winfrith, Dorset, a reinforced concrete box, open at the top. The container (overall dimensions 2438mm x 2210mm x 2200mm high) comprises reinforced concrete walls (and base), 240mm nominal wall thickness. The container is to incorporate encast steel castings top and bottom, and encast ‘Twistlock’ lifting features at each corner, top and bottom. In addition, the supply of a set of temporary lifting angles is required. This will allow the movement of the container by one of two methods. Use of the permanent Twistlocks encast in the top and bottom corners of the container, or use of a temporary bolt-on lifting angle on each side of the container. Notwithstanding specification item A104, only one set of angles is required for the prototype. The prototype container is to be a High Density box utilizing magnetite concrete. Filling and closure/installation of the lid on the waste container does not form part of this contract. Supply of the lid rebar cage, and the prepackaged magnetite aggregate are part of the scope. Packaging of the Magnetite must preserve it from moisture intrusion during storage.
