Community Postural Stability Instructor (PSI) Exercise Classes

Tender description

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is seeking a single provider (or single consortium) to deliver a ‘Community Postural Stability Instructor Exercise Class’ service (“PSI Service”) for Southend. There is a strong evidence base for postural stability exercise programmes in the prevention of falls. Exercise programmes should target strength, balance, flexibility, or endurance. Programmes that contain two or more of those components reduce the rate of falls and number of people falling. The Public Health Team would like to commission The ‘Later Life’ Postural Stability Instructor ‘Staying Steady’ 16-week programme to be completed by a minimum of 260 individuals annually, through structured group provision in the community of Southend. The estimated total contract value is £402,000. The contract term will be an initial period of 3 years 7 months from 1 August 2015 to 31 March 2019, with an option for the Council to extend the contract by two further periods of 1 year.
