***This contract has been awarded to Curtin Economic Consultants***** BIM is the development agency for the Irish seafood industry and amongst its diverse functions it provides economic evaluation and advice on the Irish seafood sector to the European Commission (Data Collection Framework), the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine, and directly to the Irish seafood industry. Specifically we undertake the following tasks: • Design, plan, and implement data collection programmes and thereafter analyse the resulting data sets to meet Ireland’s current and future needs under the EU Data Collection Framework. • Design, plan, and implement data collection programmes and thereafter analyse the resulting data sets thereby developing a deeper understanding of the economic circumstances of the Irish seafood sector, in particular the catching sector. • Manage and undertake data collection elements of other technical & development projects. • Liaise with the European Commission, the Marine Institute, the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine, and the seafood industry in respect of the Data Collection Framework and other national programmes and projects.. • Liaise with the seafood industry to build support for the work of the economics group particularly in respect of the Data Collection Framework • Maintain and update economics industry data sets. • Oversee contracts, finance arrangements and payments for the DCF and other research projects. With this tender, BIM is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced ECONOMIST to assist its full time staff in delivering on these requirements. This tender will be a contract for services for up to a maximum of three (3) years.
