Tender description

This document relates to ‘Passenger Lift Maintenance 2014’. The works would be mainly in relation to preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance and emergency telephone monitoring. The intention is to make the appointment for an initial period of 1 year with provision for a maximum of two 1 year extensions depending on work performance and available funding. The quantities in the Pricing Document are notional quantities only, included only for tender assessment purposes. They do not describe the extent of Works to be executed under this contract. The number of hours may be increased or reduced but the hourly rate must be maintained for the period of the contract. The client may procure this work in other ways, and does not guarantee the Contractor that any particular work will be procured under this contract. The Main Campus has a building footprint of some 70,000m² on a site of 90 acres. The Institute also occupies a number of additional buildings located throughout the city. These buildings are included in this Contract. Actual daily working times will be agreed with the Buildings & Estates Office, the normal range being within 08.00 - 18.00 hrs, Monday to Friday inclusive, and a normal duration of eight actual working hours per day (usually 08.30 – 13.00 hrs and 14.00 – 17.30 hrs). Due to the core activities of the Institute being concentrated over a 30 week period each year it is likely that the majority of works will be outside of these times. The remote monitoring of lifts is required from Monday – Friday (7.0am – 10.0pm) and Saturday (8.0am – 5.0pm) Work activities outside normal times will require advance planning/notice, justification and approval.
