Clare County Council requests tenders for a three year contract as the preferred Sandwich supplier for the Cliffs View Café.

This request for tender is for the preferred sandwich supplier contract for the Cliffs View Café which is operated as a business unit within the overall visitor centre operation. The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience is one of Ireland’s largest visitor attractions attracting over 800,000 visitors in 2011. Located on the west coast of County Clare the iconic Cliffs stretch for 8 kilometres along the Atlantic ocean and rise to 214 metres at their highest point. The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience opened to the public in February 2007 and has been operating as the primary point to visit the Cliffs of Moher for the past five years. The visitor centre and site are owned by Clare County Council and operated and managed on the local authority’s behalf by a subsidiary company Cliffs of Moher Centre Ltd. The visitor centre is open throughout the year, closing only for three days around Christmas. Visitor volumes fluctuate seasonally with May – September being the busiest period. However, over the six years of operation initiatives to grow the shoulder and low season business have yielded success. There are two cafes within the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience. The Puffin’s Nest Café on the ground floor of the centre is a 30 seat unit operated by a tenant company – An Café Beag Teoranta. The second café on the first floor of the visitor centre is a larger 100+ seat unit with full kitchen facilities operated by Clare County Council. The café is part of the Clare County Council facility operated and managed on its behalf by Cliffs of Moher Centre Ltd. which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the local authority. The contracting party will be Clare County Council. The Cliffs View Café is operated as a high quality excellent value café providing a range of hot dishes, sandwiches and snacks.
