N69 Listowel Bypass Road Improvement Scheme - Phase 3 Ground Investigation - Contract Award Notice

Tender description

The Contract has now been awarded to Causeway Geotech Ltd, 8 Drumahiskey Road, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, BT53 7QL. The scope of the ground investigation includes but is not limited to the following: Trial pits at approximately 100m centres along the proposed carriageway along with associated sampling and testing of disturbed soil samples. 15 No Cable percussion boreholes, with 2 continued by rotary coring • 2 No. to 30m depth - Deeper boreholes may encounter rock, requiring rotary follow-on. • 8 No. to 10m depth • 5 No. to 5m depth 13 No. 50mm dia standpipes with 7 No. Dataloggers and 1 No. Barologger. In situ permeability tests (i.e. either falling or rising head test depending on the position of the groundwater level in the borehole) Laboratory testing in accordance with BS1377 unless otherwise specified, including tests for classification, strength, consolidation and chemical/contamination testing. The location of all site investigation locations shall be as directed by the Engineer. All testing to be scheduled by the Engineer. The location co-ordinates and level to Irish Datum of all investigation locations shall be surveyed and recorded to ITM by the Ground Investigation Contractor. The contractor is required to provide traffic management for interaction they have with existing roads. The traffic management shall be in accordance with current Safety Health and Welfare at Work legislation and Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Road Works. A Factual Report of fieldwork and test results will be required from the Contractor together with factual digital data in AGS format.
