Tender description

Without OPSS £670k, with OPSS £620k (TBC whether OPSS will be involved). This four‑year Fellowship will develop and evaluate a tiered in silico and in vitro New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) framework to predict human‑relevant toxicity from mixtures of chemicals, using a food-relevant group of chemicas such as phthalates or PFASs as a case study. Building on the successes of the 2020 FSA Computational Toxicology Fellowship and recent international resgurgence in interest in mixtures assessment, the project will aim to generate new data, models, and tools to improve the understanding of complex chemical interactions and to support regulatory decision‑making. The Fellowship will also explore data ecosystems across UK government (potentially with OPSS), strengthening capability in data storage, curation, and interrogation, while contributing a high‑quality UK case study that continues to develop confidence in NAMs for chemical risk assessment.
