Tender description
Over the past seven years, Reading Heroes has become a specialist, relationship-based intervention that supports children who may not otherwise engage with reading. The provider has developed unique expertise in working with care-experienced pupils, many of whom require consistent, trusted adults and highly personalised approaches to build confidence and motivation. The existing provider delivers a bespoke, specialist model not available through standard reading or tutoring services, and changing provider would result in a loss of accumulated expertise, relational trust and programme stability. For these reasons, a dispensation is requested so the Virtual School can purchase services and maintain an effective, evidence-based provision that continues to improve outcomes for care-experienced children through reading for pleasure.
