Award of Scottish Commission on Social Security - literature review on English as a Second Language

The Scottish Commission on Social Security (SCoSS) is commissioning a short research report to support its statutory role in evaluating the Scottish social security system’s compliance with the commitments outlined in the Social Security Charter. This will focus on a review of existing research on languages in Scotland and the type of communication barriers people experience including specific barriers to accessing certain types of benefits.The aim of the work specified is to provide SCoSS with timely, robust evidence on the communication barriers faced by people whose first language is not English, including barriers to accessing specific types of benefits.This is a call off under Lot 3 (Social Research) of the Social Research and Analysis Framework Agreement.
