PIN Holiday support for disabled children and young people

The City of Edinburgh Council (‘The Council’) has funded a school holiday play scheme for children and young people with a disability over the past 20 years. This service offered disabled children and young people the opportunity to take part in a range of fun activities within a structured environment. There is a live contract for our current holiday hub programme which is open to children and young people with additional support needs. The Council is looking to scope the current market and ascertain interest from new providers who may wish to apply. It may be necessary to increase capacity of the service or to re-tender which will include incumbent providers. Note - all information contained within this PIN may be subject to change. Lot 1: What we expect: - The provider must be registered with the care inspectorate to deliver activity-based services for children with ASN. - The Provider will use safe recruitment procedures for all staff posts and will comply with relevant legislation and guidance. - Each week the provider will support up to 5-60 children or young people with additional support needs. These numbers will depend on the support needs of the young people as agreed by the Council and the Provider. - The Providers’ will be responsible for implementing the child/young person’s care plan. - The Provider will ensure that any communications with families are accessible and relevant. - The Provider will have clear evidenced knowledge of working within Edinburgh to ensure network communications with other holiday activity providers. This PIN is to ascertain if there is capacity within the market to meet the above criteria.
