Tender description

This project seeks to quantify and value the ecosystem service benefits of Cornish Hedges, focusing on their role in: • Natural Flood Management (NFM) – including associated ditch and buffer strip systems • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Local Nature Recovery (LNR) • Carbon storage and sequestration (data to be provided by a separate consultant) The findings will contribute to the development of a Cornish Hedge Unit as a green finance mechanism and support efforts to secure formal protection for Cornish Hedges through DEFRA and establishment as a contributor to BNG credits and carbon capture, rather than hedgerows alone. The ultimate aim would be to have Cornish Hedges listed as a Countryside Stewardship option as a standalone.
